How To Disable Auto-Connection

How to disable Auto-Connection mode that we set in the modem?

Did we need to disable it physically or using web based?

Many people always wondering how they can disable the auto-connection mode, even if you call up Streamyx Helpdesk the basic troubleshooting that they want you to do were disable your auto-connection if you have one.

So how to determine that your in the auto-connection mode?

Did they ‘Streamyx Helpdesk’ teach you about this?

Let me guide you.

First step to know if you’re in auto-connection mode is do the ipconfig when you can browse to the internet. If you’re using the ‘Streamyx dialer’ the IP should be starting with 218, 219, 60, etc but if your IP start with 192 or 10, means your in Auto-Connection mode.

How to do it?

Go to Start Program, click to RUN, and type CMD or command (if not XP). Then in the black box type, ipconfig. So it will show your IP. So now we go back to how to disable the auto-connection,

There are two ways of how we can disable it.

  1. Certain ADSL Modem have a tiny hole behind it, sometime it can be see beside to Power Button. So go find something small that can fit to the hole such as needle. Make sure the modem is on before you take the needle and puke (cucuk) into the hole. Please make sure that it will not more than 5 second. Why do we need to puke that tiny hole? That’s because that tiny hole that you see behind the modem is the reset button. When you reset it will turn back your modem setting into the factory setting means the entire configuration that been made by TM will gone (I mean the access level). So right now you already disable you auto-connection mode inside the modem. Oh! One more thing, please restart the modem after that…Hehehe.
  2. Other than that, you can access to your modem page such as 192.168.1.1, then you go to ADMIN link/tab. There you will see an option such as Commit and Reboot or Reset. Choose reset to Factory Setting and then Save it, then Reboot. On this part, your light at the modem will suddenly turn off and it will start blinking back and then it will be stable. Please on/off back the modem. So right now, the auto-connection is gone!

So, that’s all for now. Cheers!

that’s why i’m using the warranty modem.. so if anything happen to my modem.. i can easily got a replacement.. hehe

    - hamidian – barely said, 80% of the streamyx modem are using the same method to disable the auto-configuration inside the modem.

Macam mana dengan Router? Kalau lepas reset nak configure balik tak? Ke atau just create dialer and connect?

if you using a router, and previously set it as auto-connection, just bypass your router and create a new dialer.
if your do some setting such as putting the IP inside it, please make sure it blank or auto assign.
