So do you guys have any question related to ADSL Technologies? Or do having a problem with Streamyx but couldn’t find an answer? Just write it at the comment columns and I will respond to it.

Q — Why I always get an error, Limited Or No Connectivity? How to fix it?

A — Limited or No Connectivity due to miss-assigning IP to your LAN Connection. Usually and supposedly your IP should be assign with the 192.168.x.x group but it assign an IP which in group 168.x.x.x .

By default your modem IP is start with 192.168.x.x. Just imagine how your LAN and modem could communicate if they on the different group of IP?

Basically, you will be advice to re-install back or upgrade your NIC firmware / software since it already starts malfunctioning. Beside that, you can just manually key in the IP inside your LAN Connection into 192.168.x.x group. Other than that, you can try to repair back your LAN Connection.

Q — How P2P user effect my streamyx line?

To be honest with you guys, P2P have a major impact to your streamyx connection. I’m not very sure how to explain it using the structure of ADSL but let me put it this way.

Just imagine you have an internet connection at your house and you share it with 10 computers. You have a modem, router and 10 computers. Let tag modem as ATM, router as DSLAM, LAN Cable as cooper and Computers as your house. If one computer using the P2P connection at the house, did it effect all the user inside the house? When you play online games, did your games got lag? If you want to view video streaming, it’s keep buffering all the way? Did you realise why this thing happen? The answer is, P2P are sucking up all the bandwidth for the connection

so that’s what happen in the real life, let say at one area have 300 people whose using the streamyx connection and half from that are using the P2P Network. It will effect other user who are not using the P2P but use it for browsing or online gaming will feel that their connection is very bad and especially around peak hours.

Q – Hi there, i’ve some difficulties when i tried re-connecting by using my artnet adsl modem again.

Firstly, I got this problem “limited or no connectivity” when i’m trying to install this modem on a new computer (let’s say com A) with a new account. So i reset the files inside. However, I can’t log into 192.168.1.1 anymore and i get error that the page can’t be found.
And then, so i tried switching my zyxel modem back to my artnet adsl modem again on my own computer (call it com B) which was previously using this artnet modem. However, I got the “connected but can’t browse” problem in my computer. Same as the above problem, I can’t log into 192.168.1.1 to do the settings again.
I’ve read some of the steps in this amazing site but i couldn’t understand the sentence “re-install back or upgrade your NIC firmware / software”. Can you explain it more briefly?

can i know what type of artnet modem your using to connect to your computer? is it USB type or LAN type?
based on what i read here, the main problem is with your TCP/IP configuration inside your computer where they unable to assign a correct IP to your Computer. You can try by using this step;
1. Go to Start > Click Run > Type “cmd” or command prompt
2. Type ipconfig
3. The default IP should start 192.168.x.x,
- if it shown 169.x.x.x so you need to re-configure back your IP inside your computer;
1. Go to Start > Click Control Panel > Double-Click at Network Connections
2. Right Click at LAN Icon and click at Properties.
3. Inside the Local Area Properties box, double-click at Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
4. Choose ‘Use the Following IP Address’
5. Insert the IP 192.168.1.2, Subnet Mask 255.255.255.255, Default Gateway 192.168.1.1.
6. Then Click OK at TCP/IP properties and also Local Area Properties.

- if you done this step, please try to restart back your computer and modem.

“re-install back or upgrade your NIC firmware / software”. Can you explain it more briefly?”
- it means you need to have an up-to-date firmware for your NIC. Why? Because Windows always updating their software from time to time and that’s why if your using an old firmware for your NIC it’s sometime clash with the new Windows Setting. If you want to update your firmware you need to know first what are the brand of your NIC. After that you can go to their website to search for any new update firmware that can be use for your NIC.
- re-install it back might help because it will revert back all the data and once it install, it come with a new fresh data. Like a format.

i suck in networking XD

Basic of Streamyx, only one session is permitted for one phone line, means if your connected by your computer with the username “username@streamyx” then the other computer will be unable to log in using the same username at the same phone line. So that why it occur an error message of 691.
Let me give you an advice here, just set your modem to be an auto-connection so your computer and laptop and use streamyx connection in the same time.

    Can you please help to teach how to configure my RigerDB102 modem to act as good firewall (if it can in the first place)? I have set up a few settings that I noticed in the modem settings such ‘Attack Protection’ and set them to Enable. Any further advices?

    Ares, to be honest with you, it’s bad decision if u want to make your modem DB102 as a firewall since it’s not too good to be a firewall.

    first thing that you need to do are disable the function for people outside to telnet and ping your IP because if u let people do the telnet and ping to your IP Modem (Public IP), you’re doom man…

    hi there, i need some help on opening multiple sessions with my streamyx on my 2 different computers but i rarely can. If fact i’ve only done so twice. I use an Aztech DSL605E modem. i have not changed any configuration during the 2 times i could connect multiple sessions. Appreciate your help. thanks

    Hi, I need to know a few things about the riger db102 modem.

    1. How to upgrade the firmware to soot the requirement in TMNet websites? Where to download the firmware?

    2. If failure occur during upgrade, how to restore to original settings?

    3. What’s the different between G.Lite, G.DMT etc?

    4. How to configure the modem for auto connection and what’s the best settings for this modem?

    hi, i need your advice on my new streamyx line.
    i receive modem from tm and all the details for my acc.
    its a new acc since i registerd it on 2/11/07 but till today not able to used the streamyx bcoz the adsl light blinking.
    when i call to helpdesk they ask me to wait because the streamyx line is in progress to install..
    how 2 solve this..
    need feed back ASAP.. T.Q
