Using wireless connection
Lately, I received many enquiries from my fellow reader on how to setup an Internet connection using a wireless router. So, I’ve created this post which hopefully will help and guide you with the issue.
First you need to have a modem and a wireless router (or a modem with wireless capability). Depends on what type of hardware you use, I will not configure auto-connection for my modem because I will let the wireless router doing the auto-connection.
Second, I will connect my laptop or PC to the wireless router using LAN / RJ45 cable because it’s much easier than wireless connection and much more stable. From there I will browse to the wireless router setup page, e.g 192.168.1.1 (depends on your hardware) and enter the wireless router default username and password. For this login information, you need to refer to the manual book that come with the device.
Third, search for the page that configure your wireless router as an auto-connection. If I can remember it correctly it’s under WAN tab. Key in all the required information and saved.
Forth, then go to the LAN or wireless tab and from there you need to key in your custom SSID, and most importantly your encrypted password then saved. After done all this information, kindly reboot your laptop or PC and disconnect your LAN cable. After it boot, try to search for the SSID try to establish a connection to it.
Now are you able to connect?
Network setup: Wall Socket → RJ11 → Modem → RJ45 → Wireless Router → PC or Laptop.
